隨著人口老化,全世界罹患阿茲海默症的患者日益增加,過去研究認為,印度人常吃的咖哩中所含的薑黃素能提升腦啡脢的量和表現,進而預防阿茲海默症,因此後續的研究重點也大多鎖定薑黃素。然根據中央研究院近年研究,發現薑黃中的多羥基薑黃素衍生物才是預防此症的關鍵成分,未來將針對此方面繼續研究,希望能提供新藥研發之新方向。

英文摘要

Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible brain disorder. Because population is aging, people with Alzheimer’s disease keep rising. Neprilysin (NEP) decreases with age, suggesting its correlation with the late-onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Research used to think that curcumin upregulate neprilysin can be applied to the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. However, according to the new study, it is Polyhydroxycurcuminoids but not curcumin upregulate neprilysin and can be used to the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
