In the years preceding the AIA, patent reform received overwhelming Congressional support <br />4. Strong anti-NPE sentiment <br />5. AIA proponents argued that technology companies had been subject to an unprecedented wave of patent lawsuits, stifling innovation and creating an overburdened and lethargic patent system <br />6. AIA advocates argued that it would create jobs, bolster innovation, streamline the patent system, reduce patent litigation, and keep the U.S. competitive globally <br />7. Goal:Reduce number of NPE lawsuits <br />8.
