The Crisis of Food Fillers : A Discussion about Criminal Liability under Article 49 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation
Nitrogen has always been used for food preservation purposes. However, in Taiwan’s practice, it can be found that there is no clear definition of whether the nitrogen used for filling is part of the food or an additive. Secondly, there is no standard for food-grade nitrogen. Both of the issues mentioned will be closely connected to the criminal provisions of Article 49, Item 1 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, and it should be clarified as soon as possible.
