Autonomy of Life or Medical Treatments for Life Expectancy
This article explains the procedure which a patient fulfilled the right of autonomy of life. The patient who had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) seriously and lived with life support systems refused taking any medical treatment and asked for the physician to take off the systems. Fulfilling the autonomy doesn’t need any confirmation form the memberships in the family except the advance directives (AD) in writing which was made by the patient with full capacities after taking AD-consulting. By doing so, the patient could take medical treatments by self-willing and have the true autonomy. Because of the clear and serious regulations of procedure, the physician doesn’t have any risk of taking legal responsibilities, when fulfilling the right of autonomy for the patient.
