Ethical and Legal Analysis with Countermeasures Suggestions on Egg Freezing for Single Women

The issue of egg freezing for single women has attracted widespread social attention in recent years. Egg freezing for single women is in line with the provisions the Civil Code of the Mainland, but it violates the requirements of relevant administrative regulations. The academic circles generally hold a positive attitude towards egg freezing for single women, that policies and laws should be relaxed to allow single women to freeze their eggs. The relevant ethical concerns are not enough to become the reason for the legal prohibition of egg for single women, and the law should allow single women to freeze their eggs. In order to better respond to the challenges brought by egg freezing for single women, theland legislators need to speed up the pace of legislation on human assisted reproductive technology, formulate special regulations involving eggs, and further improve the legal rules on the disposal of frozen.
