在醫療上，有時會面臨病人本人意識障礙無法自主決定時，所牽涉的倫理道德難題讓家屬與醫療人員左右為難不容易作出決定的情形，通常在醫院裡，這些問題會有倫理委員會及倫理諮詢幫助解決這種難題，以卸下醫事人員的心理重擔。惟有認為這種情形應該以醫學倫理調解取代照會或建議，本文就醫學倫理調解相關基礎、原理、特色及適合的場合加以探討。
In medical Practice, sometimes it is not easy to make decisions especially when ethical problems involved with unconsciousness patient. Usually, in the hospital, there are ethics committees help on these issues to make ethical advice to help solve this problem and to unload the psychological burden of medical personnel. There is different view that this situation is better handle with bioethics mediation than consultation or suggestion.
