The Etiology and Treatment of Sex Offending Behavior
Sex offense was treated as regular violent crime before 1994, and Taiwan passed a new Criminal Code Subject 77 to treat sex offenders in prison before they release by referring the law of developed countries in 1994. It was the first time to provide treatment to sex offenders. In 1997, Taiwan passed the Sex Offense Prevention and Treatment Law to provide the treatment and supervision in community while they release. Part of sex offenders has high re-offense rate and might have mental disorder or even personality disorders. Therefore, it is necessary to provide the clinical psychiatric and psychological assessment and treatment for sex offenders. The study is to introduce the causes of sex offenders and the current treatment and supervision, as well as how to improve the efficacy.
