Protection of Minor Subjects in Research
In order to achieve the core value about patient-centered medicine, it has gained more and more attention on respecting the rights of patient’s autonomy in minors through appropriate surrogate decision making in pediatrics health care. The minor subjects and their parents or surrogates concern about the risks of human research that is difficult to assess, and even researchers can only speculate possible risks. But it will still be difficult to control the unpredictable risks in the course of the research, and it is more difficult in the face of minor subjects. In this article, we will centered on the protection of minors to examine the difficulties, risks, benefits and the operation of the informed consent in minor subjects research, following the discussion of the evolution of medical autonomy of minors.
