Do Antibacterial Soaps Really Offer any Advantage Over Plain Soap?
Antibacterial soaps are claimed to be better than plain soaps and water. However, according to lots of studies, antibacterial soap is no more effective at preventing the spread of germs than plain soap. Some studies suggest that antibacterial ingredients may do more harm than good over the long-term. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration finally decided on banning 19 active ingredients in antibacterial soaps. In Taiwan, soap is classify as cosmetic. Control of cosmetic hygiene shall be enforced in accordance with the provisions of Statute for Control of Cosmetic Hygiene.
