Medical Countermeasures for Pandemic Influenza: Ethics and the Law
The most challenging question facing bioethics is how to ration scarce, life-saving resources. It is similarly critical when people face a public health emergency like flu pandemic which will cause devastating social and economic ramifications. Professor Gostin leads us to discuss and to find out a possible answer, through a variety of perspectives from prevention / public health, scientific / medical functioning, social functioning / critical infrastructure, medical need / vulnerability, intergenerational equity, social justice / equitable access, global perspective, and civic engagement / fair processes.
